Celebrating Champions: BingwaFest Revolutionizes Sports in Kenya
BingwaFest, launched by Betika in July 2024, is Kenya’s first multi-sport, Olympics-style tournament, bringing together Basketball, Athletics, Football, and Rugby on a national stage. Starting in Mumias and traveling through 7 regions in Kenya, the event has drawn over 25,000 athletes competing for a share of the Ksh 150 Million prize pool. The finals 2024/25 Edition happened in Kisumu and not only crown national champions but also saw winning teams donate Ksh 6 million collectively to local charities.
This tournament stands out for its commitment to gender equality, awarding equal prize money to male and female athletes, and ensuring every participant receives kits and professional-grade equipment.
Beyond competition, BingwaFest makes lasting community contributions by building Kenya’s first 3×3 basketball courts, upgrading football and rugby pitches, and offering free medical services to over 15,000 people. The event also supports local businesses with complimentary vendor spaces, fostering economic growth.
As it heads into its second season in August 2025, BingwaFest continues to be a powerful platform for nurturing talent, promoting inclusivity, and driving social impact; setting a new benchmark for sports tournaments across Africa.
